Rivelazione totale. Ecco come definire questo disco d'esordio dei Revelation's Hammer. Appena terminato l'ascolto si ha la netta impressione di essere di fronte a un vero e proprio masterpiece, un gioiello difficile da replicare. Incredibile la qualità dei singoli brani, che denotano una maturità compositiva davvero strabiliante per una band all'esordio. La capacità di miscelare l'epicità dei Bathory, con i progressismi tipici degli Emperor e una furia al limite del crust, mantenendo le distanze da tutti, senza plagi, senza paragoni scomodi, ma impressionando per la capacità di brillare di luce propria. Con "Obsessed Onslaught" prima traccia di questo incredibile album, si apre un mondo. 10 minuti di durata che scorrono fluidi, mantenendo sempre alta l'attenzione e la curiosità. La qualità tecnica è indiscutibile fra blast continui e stacchi imperiosi, in più con arrangiamenti che conferiscono un' aura realmente malvagia. Il tutto viene incorniciato da una produzione magistrale ad opera del Toproom studio, sito infernale che ha dato alla luce numerosi dischi di Mayhem, Borknakar, Ishan e Arcturus (mica pizza e fichi, eh!) Sarebbero necessarie 10 pagine per analizzare e sezionare questi intricati buchi neri e il rischio di perdersi sarebbe concreto. Basti dire che la band norvegese in 6 tracce ha racchiuso una summa del Black Metal dalle sue origini fino ad oggi. Insomma il mio consiglio ai lettori è smettete di leggere (a sto giro mi licenziano) e andatelo subito ad ascoltare. Questo è proprio da buy or die!

A total revelation. This is the way to define Revelation’s Hammer’s debut album. As soon as the record stops playing, you have the clear sensation to be in front of a masterpiece, an almost inimitable jewel. The quality of the single tracks, which denote a really astonishing creative maturity for a band at its beginning, is incredible. There’s the ability to mix Bathory’s epic flavor, prog-oriented features typical of Emperor and a fury on the edge of crust, keeping the distance from all of them, with no plagiarisms, no inconvenient comparisons and striking for the ability to shine on its own. Thanks to “Obsessed Onslaught”, the first track of this album, a world reveals. Ten minutes that fly, always keeping the attention and the curiosity high. The technique is indisputable: continuous blast beats, imperious deadlifts, arrangements that convey a really malefic atmosphere. Cherry on top: the masterful production by Toproom Studio, infernal place that saw the birth of many albums by Mayhem, Borknakar, Ishan and Arcturus (big deal!). We would need ten pages to analyze and dissect these tangled black holes and the risk to lose ourselves would be concrete. We only need to say that this Norwegian band has included a summa of Black Metal from its origins up to now. Indeed, my advice to the readers is: stop reading (they’ll fire me) and go listen to it now. This is really a buy-or-die album!
